What is TAP London?

TAP London is a volunteer-led non-profit organisation dedicated to improving the lives of homeless Londoners through contactless technology and online fundraising.

TAP is run in partnership with our colleagues at the Greater London Authority. We distribute grants through The TAP Foundation.

How it got started.

One in 52 people in our capital are homeless. Homelessness is devastating; its effects are starkly visible on our streets and the numbers worsen year after year. We know that generous Londoners want to help, yet with less cash in our pockets and so many brilliant local charities flying under the radar, it can be difficult to know how.

At TAP, we bring communities together, connecting fantastic local services with generous Londoners who care, through contactless giving.

What impact has TAP had to date?

Since 2018 TAP has raised over £500,000 for London’s best homeless charities, and engaged 100,000 people to stop and donate in one of the busiest cities in the world.

We know that homelessness is complex. There is no magic fix or single solution. That’s why we choose to fund a coalition of London’s most game-changing homeless charities. Up until December 2020, we granted funding to the 29 charities which comprise the London Homeless Collective. Members provide a myriad of services, from providing safe rooms to young people, long-term support for someone with mental health issues, emergency shelters in sub-zero temperatures, or skills training to help someone back into work. In response to the impact of coronavirus, we began fundraising for a smaller coalition of youth homelessness charities in December 2020. Read more about that here.

As of December 2023, all donations are held by TAP, and distributed as individual grants to local charities who apply for support.

No matter which charities we are raising for, you can trust that all money donated is spent locally, supporting Londoners who find themselves in hard times.

In short, donations to TAP have helped a lot of people, in a lot of ways.
